PRIME KONA ESTATE FARM COFFEE
Kona
coffee has attained the title of one of the most
expensive and desired coffees in the world because of
the ideal growing conditions and the high standards of
care that result in outstanding flavor.
At
K.T.L Farms, we observe the time honored guide for
hand-picking only the red cherries for processing and
this standard insures that our coffee is superior to any
other coffee in the world. Our coffee is certified
and graded by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture for
origin and quality and our coffee is certified at Prime
grade, the highest grade below Peaberry.
Our coffee is roasted to order and is shipped in
airtight bags with a gas release valve to insure optimum
freshness. For
the convenience of our customers living in the mainland
we ship the coffee to our business at Temple Bar
Tiki Bar & Grill located in Berkeley, California,

ABOUT
US
KTL
Farm is named after Kem Alani Tung Loong whose father,
Edward was born and raised on the farm in Ho'okena,
Captain Cook, Kona, Hawaii. Our coffee is grown on 11
acres in the heart of the Kona coffee belt in the rich
volcanic soil and cool steep slopes of Mauna Kea. We
are a part of the coffee growing kama'aina
families who have owned our land and grown our coffee in
the area for generations.
OUR
PROCESS
The
coffee harvest season begins in August or September and
continues through December with each tree providing
twenty to thirty pounds of cherry fruit. Unlike many
processing plants that commercially mass-produce coffee,
Kona coffee trees cannot be mechanically harvested,
which means each tree must be hand-picked. Then with
experience and dedication to quality, we maintain the
time honored standard for picking each coffee bean by
hand at red cherry perfection. We pulp the coffee cherry
within 1-2 days to ensure the cherry does not over ripen
and the resulting green bean is then dried naturally
under the Kona sun for several days.
